thank you for joining us, ramsay. happy day after thanksgiving to you. >> alex, happy black friday to you. thanks for having me. >> i know that you served in both iraq and in the marine corps. what is the hardest part about serving far from home during the holidays? >> well, i think that clearly it's being away from family. i was deployed in iraq during the christmas season, missed christmas, missed thanksgiving, new year's, the birth of my son. having life go on without you back home is really pretty difficult and especially if you're in the spartan conditions that we were in and a lot of the troops are in afghanistan right now. >> yeah. >> it makes it all that much more difficult. >> ramsey, it's not just you when you're out there, but it's your loved ones at home who see that empty place at the table. they're thinking of you in those spartan conditions and it's tough. >> yeah, absolutely. i mean, for all of the events there's always an empty place at the table. and for a lot of americans that plates will always be
